Can you hike to the highest point of Taiwan – Yushan?
Literally: “Jade Mountain“, also known as Mount Jade or Mount Yu, is the highest mountain in Taiwan at 3,952 metres (12,966 feet) above sea level. The peaks are a snow-covered winter wonderland, which makes the entire peak shine like stainless jade, hence its name.
It’s a must-climb mountain for die-hard hiking enthusiasts. You need to apply for an entry permit [more information available below] and this is sometimes difficult when there are too many requests. Yushan and it’s surrounding mountains belong to the Yushan Range, which is part of Yushan National Park.
International peak baggers often combine a trip to Yushan along with trips to Gunung Kinabalu and Fuji to form an “Asian Trilogy” hiking experience.
For this travel challenge you have to summit Taiwan’s highest peak. To complete the challenge you must::
- Take a photo before you start the climb.
- Take a photo at the summit with the Mt. Jade Main peak sign.
- Upload your favourite photos from the climb.
If you want you can also share your health stats for the day showing distance and times or your well deserved food & drink rewards at the end of the hike!
After completing the challenge you can reward yourself with a Travel Medal!
If your confident of attaining the summit and want to pose for photos at the summit with your medal, then feel free to purchase the medal before attempting the trek. The medal will arrive in a brown envelope inside the package therefore can be opened and seen for the first time at the summit.
